JaQuita May

Soulful voice with a magnetic stage presence - based in New York, USA

From the moment JaQuita first sang in her church choir at just five years old, it was clear - she was born to perform. Growing up in New Jersey, she honed her craft through electrifying performances in high school and college, setting the stage for a career that would defy genres and expectations.

As a founding member of Justis League, the socially conscious Hip-Hop/RnBSoul collective affiliated with Wu-Tang Latino, JaQuita commanded audiences with her soulful voice and magnetic stage presence. But her artistry couldn’t be confined to just one style. Whether it’s gospel, jazz, rock, RnB, or house music, JaQuita’s voice is a force that transcends boundaries.

Her 2004 release of "Love Will Save the Day" under Jellybean Soul showcased her breathtaking vocal range, infusing Whitney Houston’s iconic hit with her own spirit and depth. The track quickly gained traction, setting the stage for even bigger opportunities.

Then, in 2005, JaQuita’s acappella rendition of the National Anthem catapulted her into the national spotlight. From 15,000 hopefuls, she became a "Super 8" finalist in the Oprah Popstar Challenge, proving that her voice could stand among the best.

JaQuita’s talent has taken her around the world, performing on legendary stages alongside music royalty. She has:

- Toured Europe with Grammy-winning DJ Roger Sanchez

- Fronted the American Gospel Singers Tour, Remember Jones, and Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul

- Headlined two sold-out tours in Italy, “Element of Surprise”

- Graced the big screen in Christmas Chronicles with Little Steven & The Disciples of Soul, starring Kurt Russell

- Shared the stage with legends like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Gloria Gaynor, Lisa Fischer, and Tony Orlando

With over 25 recorded dance tracks - many of which she wrote and co-produced, JaQuita continues to push creative boundaries. Her powerhouse performances in regional theater include starring as Dionne in HAIR and The Acid Queen in TOMMY, a production led by Remember Jones that further showcased her commanding presence.

In 2024, she captivated audiences in Morocco, and due to overwhelming demand, she will return in 2025. Currently, she is deep in the studio, pouring her soul into a brand-new album set for release later this year.

JaQuita is not just a singer - she’s an experience.
