Saori Oda

A unique blend of Japanese heritage, classical training and extensive West End experience - based in the UK

Originally from Fukuoka, Japan, and now based in London, Saori Oda brings a unique blend of Japanese heritage, classical training and extensive West End experience to the international stage. Her career reflects versatility, discipline and a lifelong passion for storytelling through music and theatre.

Inspired by a childhood love of musical theatre, Saori moved to London to pursue her West End dream and made history as the first Asian actress to play the leading soprano role of Carlotta Giudicelli in an English-language production of The Phantom of the Opera, performing on the UK tour and in the West End at Her Majesty’s Theatre (now His Majesty’s Theatre). Her career also includes productions such as Wicked, The Lion King, Miss Saigon, The King and I, Avenue Q, Carousel and Pacific Overtures, as well as performing alongside Lady Gaga and Pet Shop Boys at the BRIT Awards, appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, and performing at the Royal Variety Show before members of the Royal Family.

Proud of her Japanese heritage, Saori has appeared as a concert soloist performing music from Studio Ghibli at Duke’s Hall, Royal Academy of Music in London and internationally in Montreal, Canada, as well as Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) at the Barbican Centre. Drawing on these musical experiences, Saori has crafted her shows around her Japanese heritage and her love of musical theatre and classical music, with a nod to her experience in comedy. Her diverse repertoire appeals to international audiences, while her warmth and natural ability for storytelling bring a unique and joyful celebration of music to the stage.
